Googong Foreshores is 10 kilometres
south of Queanbeyan and is managed as a water catchment, wildlife refuge and
public recreation area. Although entirely within NSW, the Foreshores are
managed by the ACT.
Friends
of Googong Inc (FrOG) was established in 1997. It continues the work of
community groups which had become involved with tree planting around the dam
since 1983. FrOG has continuously contributed to the biodiversity and management
of the Googong reserve through seed collection, plant propagation, revegetation,
weed control, walking track maintenance, flora and fauna monitoring and some
heritage work.
Visit the ACT Government's
Googong Foreshores web-site for more information about this important
natural heritage area in our midst. Maps and guides to the area are available to
download from the website.
